7 Self-Care Investments You Should be Making

Take Care of Yourself

At some point in life, if you’re lucky, you’ll reach the realization that life is about more than just getting on, striving, moving from one achievement to the next. It’s about truly thriving, physically, mentally, emotionally and professionally.

“Self-Care” is about more than just pampering yourself, it is feeding your spirit and allowing yourself to explore the best version of yourself without getting lost in the journey.

Here are 7 investments you can and should make in yourself, in the name of self-care.

1.

A Therapist
There is only so much healing you can do by self-isolating, reading the books, watching the YouTube videos and Ted Talks. At some point it’s best to sit down with a professional to iron out your past traumas, roadblocks, destructive patterns and any of the other issues that are keeping you from being the version of yourself that you want to be.

2.

A Career or Life Coach
The therapist helps to heal you, while the coach helps to guide you in the direction you so desire. You’d be shocked to find out how many women you admire work with a coach of some sort. Life is hard, you can’t go at it all alone.

3.

Home Cleaning
A clean and uncluttered home is vital to mental health. There are only so many hours in a day, don’t spend them doing something that you can easily outsource. There is no need to feel guilt about leaning on professionals.

4.

Fitness and Health
It’s difficult finding the motivation to move more or eat well. If you find a sport, program, class, studio or trainer that makes it easier or more fun for you to keep strong and fit then have at it! Looking good and feeling good are an instant mood lifter and pay dividends in long term health.

5.

Time With People You Love
Book that plane ticket. Make that phone call. Share the meme. Send the text. Block out your schedule. Outsource the cleaning! Create and then protect the time for the people who mean the world to you.

6.

Personal Care and Grooming
It may not be PC to say it, but how we present ourselves to the world matters. However, how we feel about our personal presentation matters even more and can affect how we move in the world.

7.

Travel
The saying goes: “travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.” Besides growing in sophistication and becoming more cultured, getting out of your own environment can do wonders for your creativity, self-esteem, confidence, social life and love life! A change of scenery can provide unbelievable clarity about situations at home. Book that ticket.
